Buffer wheel, pour some oil in and put it over heat until it almost catches fire. Swish the oil around and dump it. While letting it cook a bit, bull a fire. Once it’s cooked enough to rub oil with a wad of napkins, do that. Turn upside down on fire and burn the shite out of it. Come back with a scouring pad and get all the craut off then fry 2 pounds bacon. Baste the pot in bacon grease. Take bacon out, wipe it out, put you some fresh grease and heat til it starts smoking. Cover that thang and you’re good.

You left out “ dance around it in a circle under a full moon”. Cast iron isn’t that complicated.

ONLY reason I said to do all that, is because I had a pot a buddy borrowed and he “cleaned” it. I trusted him, so I picked it up without even looking. Went to use it about a month later and had fuzzy mold all in it. Pressure washed it, hit it hard with a scotch brite and re-burned it, it looked great. 2 weeks later had mold in it again, so I got serious. My only experience with mold in a pot didn’t resolve itself with the “just scrub it and oil it up” method, and what I suggested was what I ended up doing.
If he ain’t got the time, disregard.
