We have traveled to many places where there were iguanas. USVI, BVI, Puerto Rico and surrounding islands for example. They're very curious and will get close to you, but I've never heard of anyone getting bit or tail whipped by one that wasn't being agitated. I've heard that they will drop out of tree limbs near people, but they aren't aggressive. Never eaten iguana, but in some areas they call it "chicken of the tree."

Can confirm they will fall out of trees when it gets below like 42°. What you don’t want to do is put them in a catatonic state in a trash bag and place in your trashcan which is inside your garage. What you do want to do is grab an air rifle, garden clippers, or shovel and decapitate them.
