I would recommend Cloud Defensive or Modlite for AR mounted lights. I chose the Cloud Defensive Rein. I bought the 2.0 version at the time, with the 3.0 being available now. I like my light and have no complaints.
With the Modlite, you have 3 choices. PLH, OKW, or HOG.
PLH - 1350lm 54,000cd
OKW - 690lm 69,000cd
HOG - 1350lm 120,000cd
And on the Cloud side, you have the Rein.
Rein - 1250lm 100,000cd
If you aren’t aware, candela (CD) is more or less a measure of throw. If you take a light with 1000 lumens (total amount of photons emitted) with 50,000 candela or one with 100,000 candela, you can expect a very tight focused beam that goes a longer distance with the 100,000cd light, or a more wide beam that lights up a whole room with the 50,000cd light. This is entirely up to your situational usage. On a farm with acreage or want to punch through car windows? Go higher CD. Inside an average sized home and want to illuminate the living room? Maybe a wider beam with less CD is better.
You want the 18650 models, unless you’re using an pistol/SBR setup, and rail space is limited. 18650 has both more capacity and higher current discharge, meaning a brighter light.
I think they are both very good, albeit expensive, lights.
The Cloud Rein comes with an MLOK mount (my 2.0 did not, I purchased separately), 1 battery, and a charger for $400.
The Modlite packages include a charger and battery. Notably, the Modlite excludes a remote switch, which is standard on Rein lights. If you want the remote mounted switch, the Modlite OKW and PHL run $396 while the HOG runs $466, including the remote switch and inline mount.
In my opinion, I would go the Cloud route, especially considering the mount I paid ~$70 for is now included in the package.
Surefire makes excellent light also, no issues with them. I am just more familiar with Cloud and Modlite lights.
