We went last year during our honeymoon and had a great time. Only planned thing we did was a canal tour and a visit to the Rijksmuseum.

H2O, nice review. I was there in the mid-90s, pre-European Union. Things have certainly modernized.

Loved the pankooken (spelling? but it's those big flat pancakes) and the patats met mayo (french fries with mayonnaise), as well as the Dutch coffees, beers, sandwiches, and the cheese. Gouda cheese that you can buy here only scratches the surface of the cheese options in Holland (but admittedly, you can get alot of that here now).

H2O Tiger Thanks for your review. Your trip looked awesome.

I saw a few people recommended boat tours, unfortunately it's going to be rainy the whole time we are there. Not sure if we will be able to do one. I don't know if they run them in the rain.

We do have our tickets already for the Anne Frank house. We bought them about a month ago.

You do take damn good pictures.

I didn't prioritize the Netherlands when I spent months in Brussels. Of course, I'm heavy into reading stuff about Market Garden, and I coulda made the trips into NL, but didn't when I had the chance.

OP, if you're into it, I'm sure there are plenty of WWII sites to visit. The Dutch were very different under occupation than many of the French, etc., and it could provide some interest.

I remember speeding from Amsterdam to Brussels for a meeting, and there is literally a tiny canal or road called, "Tank Ditch (road/canal.)" It was just out of sorts to see that kind of thing this century. It's either on the A4 out of AMS or the A11 out of Antwerp. It's absolutely nothing to see, but there is hidden WWII history all over.
