The #Astros have no interest in trading 3B Alex Bregman, but have privately resigned to losing him in free agency in a year, per @BNightengale The Astros are realizing it may take $300M to keep him. The money is most likely for Jose Altuve, so he can be an “Astro for life.”

Altuve is going to end up taking a below market deal out of his desire to stay here. It's the only way Uncle Pennybags opens up the purse strings.

Astros Interested in Tucker Barnhart

Not a bad option as a backup, his Savant page doesn't have him grading out that great defensively but obviously that's still probably tenfold better than the previous lump that was back there.

Also, Cardinals are listening in on Tyler O'Neill. 2 years until he gets to free agency, injured and pretty bad the last two years but legit RH power. Would prefer to add a LHH I think but if the price is right it's an interesting option for LF.

Regardless of the Tuve deal, I don't think Bregman is in their plans moving forward

There's no obvious replacement for him at 3B to my knowledge, but there's better bang for the buck out there than watching him try to force pull everything

And it pains me to say that, but he's got his championships and is chasing a contract

Just going to assume that’s 10 years at an AAV of $30 million. His age 40 season will be the last year of the deal. That’s rough.
