Yeah, I’m not saying that story isn’t plausible. But the fact that they are all in a trafficked parking lot going nowhere doesn’t really support that theory.

I'm thinking the guy was jumped by the three scholars and his buddy happened to be close by and armed. That's what I will go with since one was fist fighting and didn't stop. He seemed to be in his "fight instead of flight" zone. He was clearly focused to the point he didn't flinch when his friend started shooting.
