Don't know. But these communities are like 15 minutes apart. There's no real reason for a kid to need to move during the school year.

what's the latest on this? Is he going to play for Thompson tonight?

His family moved from an apartment zoned for SP to one zoned for Thompson. Hard to believe there isn’t a rule preventing an in-season transfer and play, but there isn’t.
I mean he moved mid year to a new school. Should he play for a school he no longer goes to? Or should he not be allowed to play high school sports because his family moved?
Lol. You can’t make a rule.

Yes.
The rule would prevent programs (especially dirty ones like Thompson) from pilfering talent during the season. Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but Thompson lost their two best defensive linemen last season. Now a four star junior end is available and just so happened to move right before the playoffs?
Also, the rule would help with the transition during the year. Football teams are already in full swing and it would not be healthy socially for a new kid to get thrown into an active program. I don’t think it’d be bad for him to be able to practice, but imagine the pushback if he takes playing time from kids who have been busting their arse for years to get where they are.
This isn’t college or professional sports. There’s no “big business” involved. It’s kids in grade school.

It would also prevent kids whose families moved during seasons to lose one of the only years of sports they’ll get.
Not worth it.

Seriously? Thompson is about 5 miles from Spain Park. If his family is so concerned about his well-being,he could have stayed at Spain Park or move to Alabaster but still play at Spain Park. This whole thing is garbage and maybe will finally blow the lid off what Thompson has been doing.

I know kids now who moved in from out of state and had to sit a year because the school they went to for academic reasons wasn’t in the same district as their house was zoned for.
LHSAA didn’t give a shite that at least one of these kids transferred in from Canada, he still had to sit.

Former LSU commit, Kris Abrams-Draine, who ended up at Missouri, played at Spain Park. He's having a great year at corner for Mizzou..

Thompson is dirty in every aspect and has the AHSAA in their pocket somehow. Ask yourself how the competed in the southern region of Alabama for a while until it got called out.

I know there is some rule if you transfer to a private school you can't compete in any sports for a year. Supposedly to prevent recruiting from happening. I had no clue you could transfer mid-season still and play immediately. We had a kid on our high school team, worked out with us all summer, played in the first several games, and apparently he had been at the cross town rival the year before and his family moved. They enrolled him at our school, and after the first 9 weeks of school, someone found out that the house they moved to was actually zoned for the other school. He had to transfer back over to that school, and I don't think he was able to play football anymore. He got to play basketball since that season hadn't started yet, but there was at least something in place in the 90s in Alabama that wouldn't allow him to play for two schools in the same season.

It's high school football not the SEC. He's an even bigger bum than Shea Patterson, who went to high schools in three states. Won two state championships, an a chance to win a 3rd at Calvary. At least he waited until there were a few weeks before his senior season started. Then he left.
Whatever happened to having pride in one's own community? The guys I was friends with in junior high and high school were closer to me than any friends I made after that. I would have never quit on them.
Shea Paterson's school history.
Hidalgo, TX (FR Yr.HS)
Calvary Baptist Academy, Louisiana (Soph & Junior Yr HS)
IMG Academy, Florida (Senior Yr. HS)
Ole Miss (NCAA)
Michigan (NCAA)

Well we are discussing a “rule” that would apply to everyone so…..
