You are lucky to be there during oyster season. Seek out Bowen's oyster house. It's worth the drive. Might want to call ahead though, this is also wedding season and wedding parties will book the whole place out.

I only have one negative thing to say about the food options in Charleston. Do not come here to eat raw oysters. The restaurants charge between $2.75 - $3.75 each and they’re super small…like really small. I just tried a dozen at a second restaurant and 3-4 of them may have been the size of quarter. However, nothing else negative to say about the place. Don’t let this keep you away! Great place with plenty of cool vibes!

Ha, the oysters there are from my buddies oyster farm, they’re called perky sea-cups, and they are in fact small. Those particular ones are cage raised. But the vast majority of local oysters are taken from Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge and are some of the best in the US

This is terrible advice. The restaurants get oysters from all over and they are different sizes which the menu or your server will explain. Just like pretty much every other place that is known for oysters. And there are lots of great oyster happy hours where you can get them for $1, which are usually James River, medium to large in size.
