Norco Bait and Tackle & Sportsman's

Anyone know what happened with both of those sporting goods places. Norco bait and tackle seemed to be well stocked and maybe had too much overhead. But always a really nice place.
And I just assumed the man who owned Sportsman's passed away. It always had weird hours, but suddenly it never reopened.
As my name suggests I spend a lot of time in the Bonnet Carre Spillway.

IIRC Norco Tackle didn't make it due to lack of business and the cost to stay in business. Spillway sportsman should have closed 30 years ago with the way that guy did business.

I swear the sportsman's place would be open one hour and closed the next. It was random

Roussels also had a hard time making it in Laplace.
He actually owned the building and leased the other units.
Laplace, does not have enough traffic to support a fishing tackle store.

It was nice to run to Norco Tackle and grab some baits for the weekend during lunch break. I would have thought it did well with all the plant baws near by.

Damn. Loved norco tackle. Only place that has shiners locally

I don't know anything about that area, but decent bait shops are hard to find anymore. Lake Texoma is a big lake and there's maybe 2 in the area that sell live bait and they only carry small shiners and black salties.
If I wasn't so irresponsible and satisfied with my lifestyle, I bet a dude could build a big tank and sell threadfin for at least $2.50 per. I'm almost positive it's not legal, but you'd get business. I know a few guides that keep a few hundred at home so they don't have to catch bait every day.

I looked into buying someone out a few years ago that had a convince store/ tackle store.
There a good bit of cash to be made.
If I did it I would have a small place to serve food, decent tackle which does take capital, shiners and crickets if you do it right there is money to be made, and get unique products.
Then I would have dual ice machines, huge area to pull boats in to fill up, beer, soda, etc.

Sportsman's saved by duck season a few years ago when I couldn't find shells anywhere. He had old old cases of steel shells. I bought a ton and at a good price. He had some old old Fiocchi.

Yeah old dealing Dale was a character at Sportsman’s. Cash and you could buy whatever for a deal. I liked Norco tackle. Not concerned with the price and was convienent
