We have the best OC in college football

We have young quaterbacks that are learning the system. We had to be patient this year and should expect a little more next year. I attended LA Tech when Crowton was there and he is the best offensive mind that I have ever seen. LA Tech's offense was always in the top in the country and that was with little talent. Crowton never had an athletic quaterback he always had pocket passers that got the ball to his athlectic wide receivers. I think by the time JL is a junior and Les Miles lets Crowton take over the reins with the offense then JL will be lighting the SEC up. I think he will use JL and JJ just like he used Flynn and Perillioux, he will bring JJ in to run and occassionally pass just to give defenses more to prepare for. I think our problem is our defense, ever since Saban left the defense has been going downhill. Even last year we had shootouts against most every team we played on our run to the National Championship. Matt Flynn just does not get enough credit for carrying the team last year. We have talent on defense they just are not coached to be in the right spots at the right times and they have forgotten how to tackle or just haven't been coached on how to takle. I think as long as our defense gets fixed we will be fine. I always said if we had a Crowton offense and a Saban defense we would be unbeatable.

I've read all the hype on Crowton, and yes he's had to deal with a new young QB.....but, I must admit that the lack of progress in Jarrett Lee's performances thru the season makes me wonder what went wrong...
Was it a lack of preparation, practice, instruction on Crowton's part to help JL make better decisions on the field?
Why did it appear that JL's footwork never improved?
Why did Crowton not see anything in Jefferson earlier on?
Were all of the above a result of Les Miles' control over the situation and lean toward Lee? Or, was Crowton calling the shots on this?
I must say that I'm disappointed in how the QB's were handled (everything from play-calling to lack of development to failure to get JJ involved in the mix earlier on in the year when JL struggled).....either Crowton or Miles (or both) did not do a great job in handling this.

Maybe he's just not that good and/or cant handle the pressure. Sometimes the players have to take some responsibility

He wont matter as long as LM keeps him on lock and key

I'd take Norm Chow over him. That's about it.

Oh good God every time, all day long! Norm Chow is one of the best offensive minds and QB developers that College football has ever seen. The thing I love about Chow is he always finds the weakest guy on an opposing defense even if it's a great defense and will attack that person or person's with regularity. He stated this before the Orange Bowl blowout over Oklahoma. He is a master of breaking down film and finding how to really attack a defense and taking what they will give you. Always wished LSU would have gotten him. UCLA is lucky to have him.

It's much easier if the boosters keep you supplied with top talent every year.
Where is Chow coaching at present?

Crowton will change the offense for Shep. He told Pryor that he would last year. This could be fun to watch

I admittedly don't know much about Crowton's rep, but it definitely seems that we desperately needed a quarterback coach this year with 3 rookies and will again with with Shep and Garrett coming in.
I don't see JL as having the slightest chance of competing with these guys at all! Shep will be here next month and should be ready to play by the fall if we have a coach who will actually work with him. Also, everyone knows that JJ's strength is the spread, so why didn't we use that more often against Arkansas? Whose idea was it to handcuff him in the last quarter and get so conservative? If we had let him continue to play as he had the first 3 quarters, we had a great chance to win that game!

at oregon he had dixon
dixon didn't develop until after crowton left
crowton is still learning how to use mobile QBs. he's a spread guy, not a spread option guy

According the all the intelligence on the rant, our OC is the worst in college football because of his play calling.
I think he is an amazing OC and when LSU gets more experienced QBs, we will really see his system work. He hasn't had a QB starting in his system for more than a year.
