Just finished Gears of War 2

Got it 4 days ago and forgoed a sex life to finish it. Little disappointed that there were no Berzerkers in this game, but I strongly suggest that when you finish it that you wait till the long arse credits end. Nice surprise.

I beat it the night I got it. Buddy and I played straight for about 9 hours I think (stayed up until 7am)
Of course I turned that shite off and didn't wait for the credits

It was Adam (or Alan? crap forgot what his name was, Marcus' father) Fenix over a radio asking if anyone was there, and then ending it by saying "What have you done?" or something very similar. Seems like perhaps it wasn't his wish to sink Jacinto after all if that's true, or at least not for the same reason as the recorded message you found.

I'm trying to get through this thing on Insane. There are some very frustrating moments to be had.
I've managed to make it to the final act somehow. I'm just glad that there isn't a boss battle as difficult as RAAM to deal with. That fricker took me about 1000 tries to get rid of on Insane.
