my experience in 2006-7 is that two prominent lawyers churned files like i have never seen in 31 years of practice (including many years in family law). Both are dead now, so this was me ranting, without providing any useful information.

Loomis was pure scum. My ex wife hired him. He squeezed her for about $20k and cut her loose. The only thing I lost in the divorce was her. I almost hired Kneippe myself but managed to get in to see another attorney before he had an open appointment. Worked out well for me.

i never met Don Kneipp. The performance of both of these arse clowns in and out of the courtroom was so bad that the judge came out into the hall in his robes to apologize to the wife for the actions of the lawyers in court....twice.

in a settlement conference wife said "i will never co-own anything with husband." lawyers meet, come up with a stipulation, and as they're reading it into the record and telling the judge it deals with all assets, wife says "you didn't address the stock." Lawyers shush her, since they decided to simply ignore her.

when the judgment had not be submitted by the return date, W's attorney was found down the hall, and H's attorney refused to come to court because they were at a child's school thanksgiving party. The judge ordered them to appear, with threat of sending a deputy to bring them to the courtroom.

at a hearing first thing Monday morning, H's attorney complains that they cannot move forward without promised discovery responses. Wife's attorney "Oh, yeah, i faxed them to you...Sunday night late...67 pages."

Eventually, both lawyers were fired, and failed to collect all of their unpaid fees. I believe both were sanctioned by the judge, and i know he forbade the use of fax transmission in the case. the parties worked it out in about an hour by themselves. i drafted the judgment.
