You can’t find a $300k home in a major metro area where the jobs are
I'm in Austin which has been one of the most expensive real estate markets in the past few years and you can still get single family homes for $300k in neighboring Buda, 20 minutes from downtown.
Not every house needs granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and smart home hubs.

Houses under 200k on the NS
Again, everyone wants the latest and greatest from the start

Buda is 45 minutes from downtown with traffic, not 20 minutes. And the is ONE single family home in Buda under 300k. It's 3br/1ba, 900 square feet, and it's a dump. There are other single families outside of town around 300k, but you are commuting 2 hours/day if you work in Austin.
Why is it so hard for boomers to admit that things are tough right now?
