I used to work at a Smoothie King on the West Bank of New Orleans. One of those years, they played the Zurich Classic at English Turn and around lunch time 2 golfers and an assistant type person walk in. I didn’t recognize the first golfer but I did recognize Ricky Fowler.
The first golfer stepped up and gave his smoothie order and kinda joked with us. Then Ricky whispered what he wanted to his assistant and the assistant ordered for him. I didn’t think much of it at first.
During the lunch rush it takes about 10-15 minutes for a smoothie to be made and handed out so during this time the other golfer was chatting with us and other customers and being normal. Noticing Ricky standing off to the side not talking to anyone, I asked if he was enjoying his time in New Orleans. I purposely didn’t use his name not wanting to draw extra attention to him realizing that’s why he was probably being quiet. But I had a celebrity in the store, I couldn’t pass up trying to talk to him.
Instead of acknowledging me or giving even a one word answer, he just looked at me with a “why are you speaking to me” expression and walked out of the store without saying a word.
The other golfer apologized and made up an excuse of it being a tough day on the course but it was extremely rude and multiple other costumers commented on how strange it was.
Now I get that he was probably trying to be low key but the whole way he handled the situation from ordering to purposely making me feel like an idiot has made me cheer against him for the last decade.

Sucks to hear. I have a friend who became pretty close with Rickie as an executive at one of his sponsors. She said of all the dozens of celebrities and athletes that they partnered with Rickie Fowler was hands down the nicest, most down to earth person she dealt with. He treated everybody with respect. Said exactly opposite about Shaun White. Major a-hole
