What is the preferred Paperwhite to go with? Looking for one but there is a lot to weed through. Looks like after eliminating all the refurb/older models, there's an 8GB, 16, 32 signature edition with the signature edition having "no lock screen ads." Not sure what that means, I've not used one before but my 10 year old has expressed interest in one.

I've had an 8gb model for years and never come close to filling it up. I use it almost daily

The lock screen ad isn’t a big deal. It just shows potential Amazon books on the screen as an ad before you swipe up.

I was recommended to get the 8GB by a pretty voracious reader (reads a book every couple of days) and they’ve had no issues with capacity or function. I’ve only had mine for a few months and haven’t had any issues with capacity either. Same for the SO and his.

We got Signatures because I want the wireless charging and the screen auto brightens and dims whereas the standard does not have either of those features. Signature also has ad-free included. I don't do ads where I can avoid it.

The ad version means that when you unlock it, there is an ad that you have to dismiss in an extra step before you get to your book or your library. It's $20 to remove on the standard version. Right now the Signature is only $30 more than the standard so your essentially paying $10 more for wireless charging, auto screen brightness, and more space since the Signature has no ads.
