McCray is playing better than both. Can we afford to get rid of one for next year?

I'd say Grant. Dude is overwieght and has legal issues, no telling where his mind is.

grant. smith doesn't have off-field issues. grant does. both aren't really that good.

Can we go two-for-one and trade 'em both for a least a third round draft pick.

Grant was playing better than Smith before the injury.

I still maintain that both are underappreciated because they don't get many sacks. They're both big physical DE's who are stout in run defense.

Wait until next season when we have Grant, Smith, Ellis, and a healthy 2nd DT in there. This will be a top 10 front-seven in the league. Nobody will be running against us. We were actually pretty darned solid vs the run this year too.

Are they overpaid? Probably - but then again so is virtually every starting defensive lineman in the NFL.

dude we expected them this season to be an elite DL and they just aren't. Solid players but not worth the money we are pouring into that position

I agree. If there weren't 2 dudes in uniforms standing on each end of the line before a play, I would never know we even had D-ends.

I thought to play in the league and get that kind of money you had to make a play at least once a week. Both are NO WHERE NEAR making any kind of play.

At least McCray is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Grant and Smith are no where to be found. Worthless.

To get some perspective, these 2 two waaayyyy over paid DE's have a TOTAL of 3 friggin tackles for a loss after 12 games. And someone wants to say Grant was playing good football? He played ONE good game all year and that was the 1st Tampa game. Other than that he's a big, overpaid, slow fatass.

Reality is that Grant at least played well this season. He was playing extremely well, maybe not with lots of sacks but with having a positive effect.

Smith on the other hand has been a huge bust this season. He's literally done nothing in any portion of the defense.

Just because I'm too lazy to do the research, pick Minnesota and Kansas City and Seattle.

How many tackes for a loss do their DE's have this season? I'm genuinely curious. I realize that Grant and Smith should probably have more, but I also realize that the primary job of a DE is to force a play back inside and shrink the pocket for the QB on passing plays.
