Palestine was what the Romans called the region after kicking out the bar majority of the Jews following the wars. From the moment the Romans dissolved the Jewish state until it was reformed in 1948 there never was another national polity in the region, and there is an unbroken history of Jewish habitation in the region. It's funny to me that nobody acknowledges that 80% if what was called Palestine is already contained in an Arab state, it's called Jordan, and that the Palestinians and the Jordanians are the same people.

Well, the concept of a nation state is a modern one. Ancient Israel certainly wasn't one.
