Yeah he should assume 1-1.5 hours each way. Even with no traffic that’s a long drive.

I've driven for interviews in Spring (HP) and similar locales (Greenway Plaza), and known I wasn't taking the gig based on how long it took me to get there (pre-COVID). OP could make to Austin faster than he could make it back from Deer Park to the house on a weekday.
