I asked my son what kind of car he wanted to drive when he got his license. He said a mini cooper.
I said great. He’s 14. I purchased one. It’s a 2011 that has every option you could get on one of those cars.
The car I purchased has some paint overspray on the paint job due to someone’s carelessness and has a “bad engine”. I bought it for less than 1/3 of book value.
My son and I are going to tear down the engine, replace the timing chain, water pump, rebuild the head, replace the head gasket (the original engine problem) and correct the paint issues. He’s going to learn how to work on a car and get an awesome car for cheap.
Total cost for parts is going to be right at 700 dollars. There are ways to ride for cheaper but you have to do your own work.
