My husband retired after 32 years at age 54; he was a computer programmer.

I tried a "practice retirement" at 55, found out quickly it wasn't for me, yet

My husband is also a carpenter and does handyman stuff for pay occasionally. He's also learned to enjoy cooking. I've really enjoyed him being home; his job was very stressful the last five years, and his mood has improved a lot.

I'd be bored out of my mind to be honest. I'd have to do something....even if it's just making repairs and doing lawn maintenance for my rent houses.
