I have tried watching this at least 5 times over the years and I just can’t get into it for some reason :( I hear it’s amazing

Turn your phone off and pay attention. Treat it like a movie. Keep with the show while they build the story and the characters...once they build the foundation...it takes off.
I compare it to a roller coaster...the 1st minute is rather boring until you reach the top...then its on. Which is about the 7th episode in Season One.

You aren't alone. I think I made it through Season 1, can't remember. I guess if you like watching the dregs of society being dregs of society, then this show is for you.
I might try to watch it again, but I remember not liking it whatsoever.

I just did my first full viewing this year. I was like you in that I tried twice before; the first time I quit after season 1 and the seonc time quit after season 2. I originally kept quitting becuase it was so dreadfully SLOW and boring. It had been about 10 years since my last attempt but this recnet go around I was far more entranced by it. I'm guessing just getting older and having different tastes may have altered my opinion. This time, seeing the everyday minutiae of how the police go about their jobs while seeing the criminals attempt to stay one step ahead was fascinating to me. I'm not saying "try it again, you'll love it!" but I do think going in with the right mindset was helpful. I didn't go in expecting fast pace or constant action, I went in with the perspective of watching how REAL LIFE shite goes down and how things are all interconnected together and that helped my enjoyment immensely.
