Because these people really believe that every interaction you have with a person requires you to ignore the years of observations you've made in your lifetime and treat every interaction like you're both newly born fawns.

Reminds me of the Bluey episode "Born Yesterday". That's right, a kids show covers the absurdity that type of thinking.
