Around Christmas, I have a ton of people contacting me because their kids are wanting to learn.
I always give them the same advice: NEVER give a young person an acoustic to learn on.
Yeah, I have been eyeballing one of those Fender x Loog electrics for my 8-year old. She's very interested in playing, but she just has a little pink acoustic to play on. She doesn't have the hand strength for it, so it dissuades her.

Dropped off the broken Les Paul on Monday, guy at Strange said "gluing it might work or might not". Gave it a shot for $100.
The kicker was it could be 2-4 weeks, especially with Christmas and I'm off until after New year. Didn't want to pass up valuable learning time, so I picked up a Squier Sonic Telecaster.
Took my time reading and watching videos on set up and the why behind everything. Got it set up pretty well imo, action is good and low without fret buzz, and it's intonated. Stayed with a cheaper guitar so I can learn how to adjust things and how, and not feel bad about messing it up.
