At some point they have to learn right?
Some will, some won't. The desire to cloak one's self in the glory of philosophical (but not literal) martyrdom can be addictive, especially to those who constantly crave adulation for such "self-sacrifice" and/or "fighting oppression'. Like all addictions, someone only turns around once they receive the clarity of hitting their personal rock bottom (not to be confused with the wrestling move).
And just like a drug or alcohol addiction, for some that "personal rock bottom" is the grave.

They don’t realize the cat is out of the bag. A sort of self fulfilling prophecy. You tell these people they are oppressed and they will always be. And she will always be the oppressor.
