I don't think forgiveness was the solution, but starting it back like this also isn't going to help things. I also think doing it this way makes it more likely we end up with full forgiveness. The Dems are definitely going to be running on college loans forgiveness and "Republicans have no plan for the college loans crisis" (which is true) and I think they've set this up perfectly for that. They'll be talking about this during election season right as all the morons who will let the interest accrue for a year start paying again and seeing that their balance is suddenly higher now "for no reason."

Neither side will do the reasonable thing and address how colleges piss money away on frivolous things while squeezing students for $700 "mandatory" new books, parking fees and ect.

The cost of college has gotten outrageous due to all the loan money pouring in. If the govt just forgives the loans, universities will continue to raise prices/spend knowing daddy govt will bail them out.

Exactly. Absolutely these are the types of solutions Republicans should have been pushing but instead they hear "college loans" and just say "pay your debts" and move on. It's the dumbest thing imaginable and honestly a huge "own goal" by the GOP. They're giving Dems votes by not advancing conservative solutions to this issue.
