On one side of the ball, yes. On the other side, they are putting up what may historically be the worst LSU defense of all time.

The defense was filled with transfers last season, and it helped LSU win 10 games and the West. Winning 10 games and the West is one of the primary reasons LSU's recruiting is still up despite two absolutely devastating seasons.

This isn't rocket science. Kelly is using the portal to bring in experienced players who can fill holes while the roster is rebuilt through recruiting. 10 years ago this program would have labored with 4 or 5 losing seasons while the coach had to rebuild with the roster that was left over from the previous staff. Thankfully, LSU is able to be competitive while the staff brings the roster back to a respectable position, thanks to the portal.

Yet you're sitting here saying he should be playing younger players, and being less competitive doing it, just because they aren't transfers? That is impressively dumb.

No. I am saying the man was brought in and paid to compete for championships. Player talent is an issue and so is player development. You are seeing very little development at every single defensive position. Wingo may be the only player that improved since coming to LSU.

The next two best players show a pattern. Both Perkins and Weeks have come in as true freshmen and done great things. Perkins has actually not developed since last season at all. That is the issue especially when the $2 milllon DC is his position coach and supposedly a LB guru.

I never said he should have turned away Daniels. I said that if he was not willing to fix this defense and is going to waste Daniels value to the team, he might as well have just focused on getting Nuss experience.

The way they have treated this defense for the season has been a joke and that is the issue.
