And that's the problem with us in today's society. I was raised to respect authority - though not necessarily to blindly follow it. However, there are clear rules laid out at every stadium which forbids fans from running onto the field regardless of the situation. This guy, though he was all alone, was simply trying to do the job he was paid to do: i.e., stop fans from bum rushing the field.
Why do you want to punish him over the little brats who were clearly breaking the rules?

You think they're told that in the case of a mass of fans rushing the field to try and stop or physically contain as many as they can?

Yep. Parents are letting the govt raise their kids now, and they have no respect for any authority.
