Sloan Flushmate continues to run

Has anyone ever dealt with this? I fixed it a few years ago but can’t remember the exact solution and am having a hard time finding it online.
Basically the toilet will continue running, fill the tank with water but not enough to fill back up, so it’s “flushing” constantly. I hate this thing. It came with the house. Sounds like I’m flushing an airplane toilet.

Your flapper is bad.

Water is leaking into the bowl past the flapper I presume.

It doesn't have a traditional flapper, it's one of these monstrosities.

Never seen that. Don't know what to tell you then. Youtube it

I'm ignorant of that setup.
New toilets are around $200.

Somewhere is a threaded rod that is the adjustment for how high the floater gets before turning off the refill. If it is too loose, the refilling water is never turned off and the extra water runs into the overflow, usually a open-ended vertical pipe. You need to tighten down that float so that it will Engage The off switch before the water is deep enough to run out of the Overflow

You lower 48'ers make things more difficult than they should be.

I ordered a replacement cartridge since apparently they need to be changed every 5ish years, and I know I haven't replaced it since I've been in this house. Stupid design. Stupid product. Can't believe someone thought this was actually something they believed the world needed.
The part to activate the water release is a little loose, so maybe that will solve it, but either way this is an idiotic product.

This is the dumbest contraption ever.

Replace the cartridge and it will stop running. 5 minute fix

Coburns will sell you one.

Coburns also has the wrench to change the cartridge but I always used needle nose pliers

I did what someone else did online which was use the handle of plyers to loosen. Getting the part in tomorrow via Amazon.

I had to replace the cartridge on mine and it stopped running. And I like this thing, it's loud but you could flush a bag of marbles if you had too, it is powerful. No worries about the return of the black banana.
