If anyone is planning to go on Friday morning and would be willing to stop by Lot 375 (1971 Corvette) to take a few photos to send me I would be grateful. In the early 2000's, my dad and I purchased a black (not original paint color) 1971 corvette with the LT1 hood and no rack on the back to rebuild. If memory serves, the original color was war bonnet yellow. I think there is a decent chance this is the same car. I obviously don't have the old VIN handy to compare, but there are some features I would be able to recognize. I'd love to see the trim tag on the door pillar if it was coded for the original yellow paint job. So if anyone is going and would like to check it out for me, please email me at amarch3@gmail.com.

When you and your Dad had the car, did it have the original engine? It is clear from the pic that is not the original motor. GM moved the oil dipstick from L to R in 1980. A lot of things missing in that area as well which sometimes be expected for a car that old and a rebuilt/salvage title, but it may also give some clues if it could be the car your Dad had.
The trim tag should be coded 989 for War Bonnet Yellow.
Hope someone is able to help you.
