Matt Rinaldi (Party Chairman) says the illegal immigrant development highlighted by The Daily Wire should be a 'grave concern for all Texans.'

quote:

The Republican Party of Texas unanimously passed a resolution calling on Governor Greg Abbott to convene a special legislative session to address Colony Ridge, the massive housing development north of Houston that’s become a hub for illegal immigrants.

The resolution, which passed by a vote of 61-0, says a special legislative session must be convened in order to “prevent further settlement of illegal aliens in Colony Ridge and any other areas of Texas.” The power to call a special legislative session is with Abbott, who has already been urged by the state’s Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick to do the same.

The party’s resolution honed in on a number of specific concerns highlighted in The Daily Wire’s investigation of the development, noting that “the developer allows for illegal aliens to obtain loans to purchase land using Individual Tax ID Numbers (ITINs) instead of Social Security Numbers” and that Colony Ridge “has grown to an estimated 50,000 to 75,000 inhabitants and spans over 60 square miles.”

Titled “Resolution Calling for Action in Colony Ridge,” it also calls for Attorney General Ken Paxton to “initiate a full investigation into the development activities of Colony Ridge Land, LLC, and its possible connections to elected officials in the region.”

quote:

“Governor Abbott needs to address this issue immediately in a special session since House Speaker Dade Phelan has refused to pass meaningful border security laws,” Rinaldi said. “We thank Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who recently said his office would be investigating Colony Ridge, and Congressman Brian Babin for his efforts to bring more attention to this issue.”

The resolution comes as several Republican leaders have expressed their concern about Colony Ridge. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asserted that it is “completely insane that they can set up these villages with illegal immigrants” while also noting that his office is looking into potential “deceptive trade practices.”

quote:

Multiple U.S. congressmen from Texas have voiced their concern about Colony Ridge. Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) told The Daily Wire he also received a report on Colony Ridge that he found “highly concerning.”

“I’m not in a position to fully articulate exactly what’s happening other than it is problematic and a continuation of these wide open border policies,” Roy said.

All I can find is that they started clearing the land in 2012, but that all I know.

Chicken … some background info on Colony Ridge, per LINK ]Texas Scorecard:

quote:

Background
LINK ]Colony Ridge Communities is the land development company responsible for providing loans for the construction of one of the largest illegal alien settlements in America. Notably, it is LINK ]funded by one of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s major donors.

LINK ]Terrenos Houston, the marketing program for Colony Ridge, LINK ]advertises to illegal aliens by indicating they do not require traditional bank loans, nor do they need Social Security numbers or a proven job history to apply. Instead, the company operates through owner-financed lots for illegal aliens who don’t qualify for certain loans.

The company is particularly active on international media platforms and produces marketing LINK ]videos in Spanish, promoting incentives like discounts and video tours of the area’s new schools.

Impact
The development has long been LINK ]associated with the Gulf and Sinaloa cartels. In 2013, 300 acres of Liberty County lands were used to host the “largest and most sophisticated marijuana-growing operation” in U.S. history. The area broke another record in July 2021, when the Drug Enforcement Administration raided a multimillion-dollar methamphetamine manufacturing lab in Colony Ridge.

According to an LINK ]investigation by the Daily Wire, there is limited law enforcement presence in the area. Additionally, the Gulf and Sinaloa cartels have reportedly purchased land in the development to set up safe houses.

Colony Ridge is also straining LINK ]local resources as illegal alien children flood the Cleveland Independent School District.

The GOP resolution noted that enrollment in Cleveland ISD schools “increase[d] from 6,584 students to 12,400 over the course of four years.” CISD also “had to build several new schools and is reported to be hiring H-1B visa holders due to the number of foreign language teachers needed to keep pace with enrollment.”

Additional disturbing info on Colony Ridge is described within the link.

I wouldn’t be shocked to find out Abbott is somehow getting donor money from the developers.

There’s a Colonia right near the border that Abbott has gotten big $$$$ from the guy that runs the place. Place is full of illegals.

That’s why I think Abbott is full of it and all of his theatrics won’t amount to anything actually getting done at the border that has any real impact.

He is. Sort of. If a funder counts as a developer, anyway.
