Then why shouldn't Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia Notre Dame, Colorado State and formerly Michigan State all get that same support?
Jounalists like Jemele must think those coaches are uncle tom's for not rattling the college football cage the way Deion has.

Umm why would they get to be the “black” team for America? Most rosters are 70% black. I’d be so pissed if I was a black fan or player of any other team

This is the most degrading article towards black people I have read in a long time. Even if you assume the idiotic premise that there were "Black America Teams" in the past, they achieved that status because they dominated in their sport. Miami is just a team with a bunch guys getting stupid penalties if they don't win. They only became "The U" because they won. Same with Georgetown, same with the Raiders, and the same with Michigan basketball.

Regardless, the actual idea that black people choose teams due to their racial makeup is just insulting. A black guy in Boston isn't going to be a Laker fan because they represent "black America" (or vice versa for a white guy in LA).

People (black or white) might support Deion the coach but they only take those positions because he is so polarizing, not because he is black. I didn't see a whole lot of "black America" flocking to Mel Tuckers defense last week.

Colorado's is suddenly a Black team, on the surface, seems goofy. Yet Georgetown was a white program until John Thompson turned them into Black America's basketball team.
I give up. Howard University is a great HBCU with over a billion dollar endowment & endless list of accomplished graduates . In theory couldn't much of what Thompson accomplished at Georgetown( a nothing program before Big John) been at least approached at Howard ? Blacks are so mentally broken & desperate for access to Whites & their validation that they'd rather " adopt" some of the most White Institutions in America than attend a great school like Howard? HBCU'S like Howard are beneath them.

Then they come to HBCU'S ( that are still beneath some) looking for jobs & complain about the lack of Black coaches & administrators at non HBCU'S. I won't hold decisions mostly made by teenagers against them forever , but Cry me a river on the race angle.

As Deion Sanders continues to capture the fascination of college football, even when his team gets blown out, something else is happening. It may not make headlines, but it's happening all across the country. In BLACK homes. In BLACK businesses. BLACK fathers and sons, BLACK moms and daughters, BLACK friends and workmates – so many in the BLACK community are talking about Sanders. They are saying that Colorado is BLACK America's team.

At some point, it's going to start being written like this, right?

As much as I’ve enjoyed Deions story and how he handles his program, I will 100% never get behind any story line or anything that starts the race narrative.

This is a garbage article and a garbage editor who decided to run it. frick these people.

Who is Americas white football team? Iowa? Nebraska? Are we allowed to be proud of that? No? Maybe?
