I don't think anyone is saying he should not be playing at all. But I think it is clear at this point he shouldn't be playing significantly more snaps than Jefferson. If he's not yet in shape and still somewhat injured, that's fine. Rotate the DTs more. It's not like he's been great in the 1st half, then worn down in the 2nd. There are times in the 1st quarter he looks visibly tired and he is often the last guy off the ground. Usually waiting for a teammate to help him up.

I'd rather get his 95% on 60% of the snaps than 60% on 95% of the snaps. Let's face it. LSU can't make a midseason trade to improve the secondary personnel, and House seems committed to running a scheme apparently only a few DBs marginally understand enough to be on the field. So LSU is going to have to get more help from its pass rush. If that means greater rotation at the DL spot, then so be it. Because right now Smith is just an average SEC player.
