He's the future HC at Texas.

Don't think he wants to mess around as a DC any longer than he has to.

He stands to inherit Texas. He won't be back, but I will say HE is the type of DC we need. Someone who is fired up, in your face type of coach.

Agreed. I would too.

I agree with the open check book policy. But Mushcamp is looking at bigger and better things right now. Now, if we lose Miles over the next few years and he's still available...

do any of you even follow football???

(1) as of 2 weeks ago, he's now making $900k per

(2) HE'S ALREADY BEEN NAMED MACK BROWN'S SUCCESSOR

no interview, no search committee, it's a done deal.

There is no reason to even mention his name. He will be a coach in the Big12 for a long, long while.

Sorry - but LSU cannot outbid UT for coaches. UT has soooo much money to play with. They just gave Muschamp $900k per year to be the Head Coach in waiting and DC. There is no way he's coming back to Baton Rouge.

Austin vs Baton Rouge - let's be honest - Austin is a lot nicer place.

WM's new salary is $950,000. Bo made $500,000 last year.

You are insane. He's not that special. Can get Bumpas or Tenuta for Bo money. Board won't allow what you are asking.

Will for Head Coach, or DC??? If it's for HC, he has never been a HC, so taking him a blank check would be a big risk. If it's for DC, why would he come here??? He's got it all at Texass. He is highly paid in a league that is really not defensive-minded. He is not the coach-in-waiting for the Shorthorns. Why would have give all that up to come to Baton Rouge???

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.

First of all, I agree Muschamp isn't coming to LSU.

But I have never been a big fan of "you're the next head coach, just be patient and wait another five years for Mack Brown to retire".

shite or get off the pot. Some school like Notre Dame or LSU in a few years comes after Will with a nice fat contract offer, he would be stupid to turn it down to "wait and see" about Mack Brown. That's one thing that Craig James said that was completely retarded this weekend. He said, "do you honestly think that Will Muschamp would leave Austin to go to Tennessee?"

Come on, Austin is nice...but not exactly paradise. Don't tell a person from Texas that, they might blow a fuse.

I would rather coach in austin. Big state, lots of money, and a nice city. BR is a dump and the only thing good about br is lsu.

+1, but Mack is only 50 something. He can hang on at UT for 10+ years. He won't leave for a DC position, but if a nice HC gig at a BCS school opens up, Muschamp will take it. He is not contractually obligated to stay at UT.

In that case:

Bill Bellichick - Head Coach
Tony Dungy - DC
Mike Martz - OC
