It will be a personal injury lawyer, and will usually change from year to year depending on how many cases they settle and if they hit a big one. Corporate lawyers are tied to their hourly billing. Baton Rouge does not command very high hourly rates, like you'd have in a major city. And there are only so many hours in the day you can bill. Personal injury lawyers typically are paid a contingency fee of 25% - 50% of the award/settlement.

LOL. You think the big time corporate partners earn money only from their billable hours?

No they're not. Associates have minimum yearly hourly requirements and will many times have their bonuses based on their hours billed. Equity partners at a corporate firm are not paid based on how many hours they bill.
