Any recommendations for someone who sharpens/services reel mowers in the BR area? I have a mclane 25".

I had a thread similar the other day. Someone was saying they sent theirs off somewhere. I have the push type so figured I would do it myself. On a side note after using the reel mower on my Bermuda for about a month I could not cut it with the reel mower. It was too thick and healthy. I scalped it with my regular mower and it seemed to help. Hopefully it will recover. I guess I will be searching for a used gas powered reel mower.

To hell with that! I only do my front yard with mine and it's about 1/2 an acre. FYI, the power reel will bog down in tall grass too. If I let it get too tall, I have to use a rotary mower first, then the reel which is set at 1/2".

I just started using a reel mower and can see this becoming an issue eventually. It isn't too bad right now because I had to scalp down from my zrt height but this bermuda should become ridiculously thick in the next month.
I love the way it cuts though. Much better than my ztr or push mower. It is a nice little workout but I don't mind it with earphones in and going barefoot.

I'll post one in a week or 2. Mine still looks jacked up in spots from the drought and scalp but it is recovering very quick.

I didn't think it would be an issue so quickly. Not sure the best way to handle it long term.

Ronk, please try again. I haven't seen your lawn in a few years. I remember you had quite the domination line

The pics are showing for me. My neighbor died. His yard really looks like shite now.

Right there should be 1 inch. I have a folder on my phone called lawn. I use a 16 inch earthwise. I'm going to upgrade to the 7 blade so I can cut lower and stripe my lawn.
The back is 46-0-0 fert.

I'm kind of annoyed by mine with the blades being between the large wheels are the front. I'm left with a large strip of uncut grass around concrete and other obstacles. It also causes me to leave gaps between runs where I have cut.

Ronk, what variety Bermuda do you have?
Posted on 9/21/23 at 2:10 pm to ApisMellifera
You have to overlap more or double cut.

Tif 419. It was complete shite when the house was built. If I ever have to make a switch then it will be to Tahoma 31.
