It’s comical to me that people (and there are a lot out there - mostly parents) have zero idea just how good college golfers are. There’s a reason her daughter ain’t getting noticed. And it’s not because she isn’t playing in the big events. It’s because she probably is not good enough.

It's comical to me that people (and there's at least one out there) have zero knowledge of smaller schools having woman's golf teams that offer scholarships to players that just aren't that great.

He said they are in SE Arkansas. My nephew got a football scholarship to Arkansas St. so I figured I'd look up their woman's golf team. A 10 second google search gets me to their woman's Instagram page where I see the first tournament of the year, their team finished 5th overall. Pretty solid. For a 2 day tournament their lowest score was +8. Followed by +12, +13, +18, +18, and +20.

I'm assuming they have even worse players that are on scholarship and I can imagine the 10 other teams that finished behind them also have some players that aren't setting the world on fire. A high school girl that can drop a 69 is good enough to get a scholarship, gtfo with that.

Meh. That’s over three rounds so even the worst player in your example averaged 78ish. Since you made some assumptions, so I will assume she had a bad week while averaging 78. I would also assume a high school girls event is about 10 shots a round easier than a major division 1 event. So that 71 (also assuming the high school girl played decent) becomes more like an 80ish at the college level.
