I’m not saying Dearman’s has to be your favorite or even in your top 10.

What I am saying is that if you cannot enjoy this burger (i.e. you think this is bad), you are crazy.

If you want something not as simple, then fine, I have no problem. But that doesn’t make this burger not good.

I like just about any burger, some more than others of course. If I had to be stuck with one and only one forever, I’m picking a simple burger done right like LeBlanc’s in Zachary, Dearman’s, Dixie Maid, Goodwood Grill, or Riverside. To me, these are all in the same category.

I've never had dearmans but those pictures look like a burger you would get at a concession stand.

I’m not knocking Dearman’s as I just ate there a few weeks ago and ate every bite of my burger.

But to the vast majority of people, a higher quality green leaf lettuce or something would outrank shredded iceberg. A juicy red tomato would outrank a mealy light one. A good cheese would outrank an American single. Deeply caramelized onions would beat out raw or cooked too hot/fast on the flattop. A brioche or sourdough or potato bun would beat out a cheap bagged bun. Etc. I mean all of this individually, like just side by side comparing each ingredient.

So naturally, a burger comprised of all of those ingredients would seemingly be considered “better” quality wise than one made of the limp, lower quality items.

I love a simple diner burger, but to me it’s nearly an objective fact that one using better ingredients is better, assuming the burger was cooked and seasoned well in both situations. Even if you personally like the diner ones better.

That burger looks so unhappy and overcooked.

Go get a real burger from Our Mom's or Overpass Merchant. I know for a fact OM makes everything in house, including the buns. It's worth the high dollar.

Deerman’s doesn’t season their burgers enough. It’s painfully obvious when you compare one to a burger from Raul’s, Akasha, or even Judice Inn and Ben’s.

Curbside and Overpass merchant have definitely changed their patty recipe, and it’s a huge detriment. They used to be my go-to, and now I only go rarely, and I am always disappointed when I do.

Raul’s never disappoints, though.
