quote:

In a 2018 disciplinary hearing at Yale University, Saifullah Khan listened as a woman accused him of raping her after a Halloween party. The woman, who had graduated, gave a statement by teleconference to a university panel, but Mr. Khan and his lawyer were not allowed in the room with the panel. Nor could his lawyer, under the rules of the hearing, cross-examine her.

quote:

Mr. Khan’s criminal trial, months earlier, was markedly different. His lawyer cross-examined the woman in ways that horrified women’s rights advocates: How were you dressed? How much did you drink? Did you send flirty texts? And unlike the Yale hearing, the prosecutors had to prove his guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

quote:

After barely three hours of deliberations, Mr. Khan was acquitted.

quote:

Title IX, the federal education law, governs how universities should handle sexual assault hearings. The Khan hearing was governed by Obama-era guidance, which discouraged cross-examination. In 2020, the Trump administration reversed those guidelines and mandated the practice.

quote:

Mr. Khan, a neuroscience student while at Yale, never earned a bachelor’s degree. He is suing the university as well, for breach of contract and infliction of emotional distress, among other claims. He is seeking $110 million in damages and the opportunity to finish his degree. “Yale took away my 20s,” he said.

Good.

She should have to serve whatever time he would’ve gotten if convicted.

I hope he ruins this woman and takes the university for millions. He said if he wins the defamation case he’s going to make her name public.

Was it the Obama administration that was ordering this or were they riding a wave of well-intentioned but horribly misguided attempts at "equality?"

This is depressingly common in every walk of life. Combining the mental illness that is spreading like wildfire with our cultural Feminist- centric “ Men have to prove their innocence “ Leftist default setting, men have to really vet women . Crazy is now the norm. Dating/ sex is like taking a crash course in Dysfunctional Womanese anywhere that women who vote for Democrats congregate. You have to protect yourself because Democrat ladies will ruin you for sport in support of their ideology.Conservative women don’t destroy other human beings just because they can.

I’ll be curious to see how this shakes out. The disciplinary hearing isn’t worth discussing, as they are just obscene violations of normal due process.

He’s been found not guilty when the state was required to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. He is now suing her, which means he bears the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that she lied.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see both fail to carry their burden a both walk away mad.

At least it will cost her a bunch of money and time and hopefully discourage other woman from making false rape claims.

not a lawyer but isn't his suit against her a civil suit? similar to the Goldman's suit against OJ? if so I don't believe the burden of proof is quite as high

Yes, yes, and yes. Preponderance of the evidence (civil and some evidentiary issues) is a lower standard than by clear and convincing evidence (some evidentiary issues) which is a lower standard than beyond a reasonable doubt (criminal) which is a lower standard than beyond all doubt (which we don’t use).

Women lying about being raped? Impossible

I submit the following piece of evidence from everyone’s childhood.

“Girls are made of Sugar and spice
And everything nice, while Boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails”

So you see, it’s impossible…
