Very frustrating to watch him have no impact on the game.

Absolutely idiotic. Why take away your best play maker from what he does naturally.

It took him so out of the game that when the action actually came to him he was tentative and a bit soft

From the start, I never understood the thought process of moving him to Middle Linebacker. I mean, you don't make Lawrence Taylor play in coverage! Perkins is similar to Michah Parsons. Move him around, create mismatches. But you send him after the QB! You don't have him stand there the whole game.

Idiotic.

That was hard to watch. He doesn't even look like he's hustling on half the plays I tried to watch him specifically.

A few times it looked like he even had to ask Speights (iirc) if he was lined up correctly.

He was jogging out there half the time. Idk what the staff was thinking

Yea, it was really weird. I started specifically paying attention to him on a couple plays after not really seeing him around the ball and he just seemed confused.

Parsons can play his spot well enough against the run to stay on the field for more snaps. That’s a huge difference. The college game also allows an offense to dictate defensive personnel with tempo and not substituting themselves, which makes it possible for a team to either keep Perkins out there against the run, which he struggles against, or keep him off the field entirely if he doesn’t play the first snap of a drive. If he’s just being used as a situational pass rusher, any team that can play tempo and wants to limit his impact can dictate when he can and can’t play.

If the staff wants to use Perkins as an ILB to keep him on the field all the time, they have to be more creative and do a better job of it. No one can dispute that. But he’s not cut out to be a full-time Jack. He’s an OLB in an era where that position, like fullback, almost doesn’t exist anymore. Either way the staff tries to keep Perkins on the field for the majority of the defensive snaps, it’s going to require adjustment and putting up with some struggles.

Maybe putting him at Jack is the lesser of two evils, but all of you that think this will just instantly fix everything should go back and re-watch the A&M game.

Dude was non-existent in that spot last night. Made one good play to save a TD, and Greg Brooks bit on the RB should have went after Travis.
