IMO, the easiest way to get in and out of the stadium area is to stay downtown (it is safe and has several nice hotels) and ride the busses (my wife and I have done this for the last 10 years) to and from LSU. Hilton Capitol House, Watermark Hotel, Courtyard, and Hotel Indigo are best options downtown. Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown is good too.

Best eating options are: Louisiana Lagniappe (dinner only), Juban's, Mansur's which are all pricey but high quality. The Little Village Downtown is very good as well. Parrain's on Perkins Road is very good for Louisiana seafood. Do NOT go to Mike Anderson's. It is below average for LA seafood, IMO.
