Settle an argument: spraying up or dripping down

Neighbor thinks the valve was spraying upward and caused some sheetrock damage. I'm inclined to agree.
Contractor thinks it was dripping downward.
Plumber did a little work while he wasn't there. He thinks it's to try to push the blame on him for changing the shower head itself.
The guy was a journeyman plumber at one point, so I'm not buying anything he did changing a shower head would have caused an issue.
Granted ol contractor doesn't know that.

Here’s what I see.
Plus if dripping down, I don’t see how it would have landed so strategically on the copper causing the green oxidation

The green oxidation has been there for a while eating away at the copper. If the guy was wrenching/twisting hard on the shower head and putting pressure on the pipe in the wall. He could have caused the weak pipe to split in the area of the corrosion.

Why can you not test it with the water on?

The plumber fixed the issue and didn't disclose where it was leaking.
Bottom board just looks really wet to be dripped on.
