Of course not. There's also nothing wrong with women wanting to be plumbers.
Your wife falls into the college and a career category. Her choices after that were all personal and valid.
I still agree with OP that society largely ignores non-college educated women, or wrongly pushes them into the college path regardless of ability. No matter how much we try to force gender equality, our nature prevents blue collar work from being seen as a broadly acceptable option for women, generally speaking.

We push a lot of people into the college path regardless of ability.

Does it? Or are they just not interested in those jobs? I've seen the big push to STEM for women, but nobody looks down on female engineers, they're just not as interested in the field as men are, numbers-wise. I'm involved with our local tech college and while there are exceptions there are just a lot more women interested in practical nursing, massage or cosmetology than they are welding or marine engine repair.
