There's a kayak race down Mississippi every year from Port Gibson to Natchez (47 miles-ish). I did it back in 2008ish. It was a lot of work but kind of cool to do. Wasn't sketchy at all but you had to learn how to trek the bends of the river or you were paddling for minimal progress. Not paddling you go about 5mph with paddling we averaged 15mph, on fishing kayaks.

The Phatwater. They haven’t done that race in years. It used to be a good time, but if you had a south wind those last 9 miles were brutal.
