Have Global Entry and Known Traveller number. TSA Pre Check site says no need to apply if you have these already. The problem is I only get Pre-Check about half the time I fly. Anybody know what's up with this?

If you have an active Global Entry number, you have Precheck.

Only times I've had it not go through is when the name on the ticket doesn't exactly match TSA Pre number i.e. my middle name isn't on it or only middle initial. Would just double check that stuff.

I don't know what they're doing over there. I first got Global Entry/Precheck over 7 years ago now. I've never renewed, and I still get Precheck every flight.

From what I understand is that you still need to enter the Global entry information into your frequent flyer account (Delta, United, AA, Southwest, etc.) and the system will recognize it and issue the pre-check mark when you check-in.

The system does not look for your information unless you provide it during your booking.

Usually once out of every 4-5 times I fly, my precheck doesn’t show up when I check in day before the flight. I always input my name and number just the same each time and always double check for accuracy before submitting and booking. I have no idea why this happens.

Each time it happens I’ve been able to log in and manually enter it after checking in. First time it ever happened, the counter agent was able to add it while checking in our large bag right before headed to security.

It’s happened with booking flights both with my TSA known traveler number and has happened since with Global entry number. It’s annoying, but I’m always able to successfully add it within 24 hrs of the flight if it fails to go through.

The few times that Precheck wasn't on my boarding pass after checking in online was on Copa. I simply went to the airport check-in counter and had them reprint a boarding pass for me that had it. Saves at least an hour in MCO, so worth stopping by the counter.

You don't have to enter it each time. You should be saving your known trveler ID number into each frquent flyer account you have. If you travel for business make sure that your travel coordinator has your known traveler ID number as well as your frequent flyer account numbers and hotel loyalty membership numbers.

Always take a few minutes to setup a points/frequent flyer account for any airline you fly on and save your Known Traveller number.

Only 2 times my pre-check didn't show up, once I transposed 2 digits when I updated my FF account, and once I entered it wrong manually when booking a ticket. Both times my fault, got it fixed at ticket counter and given a paper boarding pass. Both times it was worth going back to the ticket counter to get it fixed and avoid having to take off my shoes.
