I lived in the Broussard/Youngsville area and commuted to Baton Rouge for 2 years before I found a home closer. It was about an hour and a half drive. The stress definitely took a toll on me. I was constantly in a bad mood and drinking about double what I normally did.
Driving across the Basin at 430 every day was basically bumper to bumper but moving 65 MPH. It was rough. I live about 40 minutes from work now and if there's a day where I sit in traffic for an hour and a half I'll call in and work from home the next day because I know I'd be a pain in the arse to deal with at the office.
ETA: a couple of weeks ago I stayed at work until about 8 pm and the interstate in BR is like the wild west at that time.
