Anyone walk over the bridge from McAllen into Mexico lately? Have a passport but wanting to grab lunch and walk around a bit. Long wait to get back in states? Any info would help! TIA

Was there in Progreso last month and noticed no difference than in the past few years. We go and eat/drink and buy some medications at some of the Drug stores. Short waits and never had any issues but we don't go more than 3 blocks in and stay on the main drag

My grandparent's lice in McAllen. Neat little city on the US side anyway

Report: we crossed @ progresso. $2 to park, $1 to enter. Hit Panchos, Galleria(sp?) and a few Nick-nack shops. Had fun, felt super safe. The street vendors and everywhere, not entirely pushy, only if you stop and make eye contact.
Picked up a couple pounds of corn tortillas to bring home.
Lots of dental offices and pharmacies. Some Pharmacies are pretty legit.
We got out before 4pm, it’s slows down fast before sunset. If you’re American, I’d suggest to get back across. As one poster said, stay within 3 blocks of the main and you’re ok.
Highly recommended if you’re in the area.

We have eaten at Arturo's in Progresso and like it a lot. On the main drag, white tablecloths and waiters in tux's. Not expensive at all.

McAllen isn’t on the border baw. That’s the city of Hidalgo. But I’d probably do Progresso over reynosa
