That’s essentially what the extra game improvement irons are now. Great for older people who lack swing speed.

I’m not far from doing that.
I looked at those Cleveland’s and a set from tour edge, but ultimately, went Sub70 699.

I played those when I first started. Graphite shafts felt like all of the weight was in the head. They were ok, I didn't care for them after awhile.

I started with Adams A3OS. I want to say all the way down to an 8 iron was a hybrid. 3-5 were traditional looking hybrids and then the 6-8 were irons with big arse plastic backs and the 9&PW were like super cavity backs.
You definitely outgrow them pretty quick, but they do serve a purpose.

I’m telling my age but there was a man that played several times a week at Webb Park that played all woods. His clubs were custom made by Irving King. Only clubs that were not woods were his sand wedge and putter. This was in the late 60’s.
