Mixed emotions here. I have driven & backpacked the National Parks for almost 60 years. Glad that so many have discovered the parks, but saddened that the kids & grandkids will never know the parks & even the backcountry as I did.
My trail days are over, so auto restricted, required reservations to drive Trail Ridge or Road to the Sun at really sad. Yes, go early, or late fermion before & after the rangers are on duty. Gonearleoer & later in the year.
Yes, can be be frustrating, but still worth the time & effort.

National Parks are not too crowded. National Parks that non-outdoor enthusiasts know about are too crowded--Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Smokey Mountains, etc. No one has ever complained about Capital Reef or Canyonlands being too crowded. Go to the national parks that the lazy people who do not want to get out of their cars and walk anywhere do not go to.
