What’s the closest place to Baton Rouge to go white water rafting? We have kids 11 and 14 so 3 or lower for rapids.

Probably the Ocoee River. 8-9 hours plus a time zone change. There are 2 primary sections and they're rated for different levels.

Numerous outfitters go. Know when the water's on!

Schedule.

The Hiwassee River, also dam controlled, is not too far away from the Ocoee. Tamer. Maybe Level 1-2 type stuff. We've even tubed it and used the rubber kayaks. Beautiful river!

There are a few places nearby where you can go brown water rafting.

Also, don't forget kayaks on the Buffalo River in Arkansas in the Spring. Good amount of 1 to 3 level rapids that my kids loved.

That looks great. Is that dam controlled, or best time to go for water levels?
