Where can I take my 10yo bank fishing around the GBRA this weekend?

I’d like to wake up early Saturday and go cast some lines for a few hours. Took my little man fishing on a recent trip to South Africa and he fell in love with it, finally…! I’m going to start planning some more significant trips for him the future but in the meantime I need somewhere to keep the hobby going!
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Waddill off of Flannery Road has several ponds with bream and some bass. Stop at Jones Creek hardware for the crickets. You won't catch trophy fish there, but can easily spend a few hours hooking smaller fish. It's run by Wildlife and Fisheries and it's free.

there are always people at the locks on Alligator Bayou catching sac a lait (I believe). Watch out for alligators, though

Park at Baskin Robbins on Lavey lane in Baker and fish that drainage canal behind the store strip. May want to go early because there’s no shade. It’s loaded with panfish and muscats. I use a 1/32 oz chartreuse tube jig near the culverts and catch & release plenty. I’m sure with worms or crickets a kid could mop up!

Plenty of catfish of the banks of False River . Pretty sure they bite anything. Caught them on French fries once.
I see a lot of people on the side of blind river off 61.
If your serious about it the Grand Isle area .
